Bill and Tammy Logan, the proprietors and chief instructors of this school, are the best martial arts instructors I’ve ever had. I’ve been training for seven years in many different schools and styles, some of which are in another state. Bill is thorough and despite his many years of experience, he hasn’t lost his passion for martial arts. It is a passion that still drives him to put extra time and effort into training his students. In some schools, If a student is experiencing some difficulty, the teacher might try to explain it once or twice and then will generally move on. The instructors at Logan’s go the extra mile and do their best to approach the concept from many angles. They won’t give up on you. If you make a request about something you wish to learn, it is more often than not, granted. This school has an excellent student to instructor ratio. There are many junior instructors in each class who help give everyone the attention
I love this place. After a bad experience at one of the other local places in town, I was hesitant about joining a different school out of fear it would be the same. Mr. Logan is great! He works with you, and helps you get the hang of things. When he first told me his school was very family oriented and that everyone is like a giant family, I was skeptical. You hear this a lot, but it never ends up being true. Well, they really do treat you like family here. When I'm absent for any length of time, the next time I'm in class several people are coming up to me wondering where I was. He's more than happy to work with you, and makes it a point to keep the class open and accessible to everyone. My only complaint is I wish I could make it to class more often, but my work schedule makes it a little difficult at times. He offers most of his classes in the evening, starting around 5:30 for kids and 6:30 for adults and ending around 9:30p, with S
I've personally trained with Master B. Logan for many years. We actually achieved the rank Shodan together under Master's Self Defense Centers, studying Shaolin Kenpo and other martial arts under Master Jerry Ingle. We diversified our martial arts skills by cross-training in other formidable arts and karate styles such as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Filipino knife fighting, Filipino stick fighting, and kung fu. We adapted our training frequently to fit the current times, preparing students for critical events such as a 9/11 scenario on a plane, as well as other current-events-inspired scenarios. We frequently invited other martial artists from other styles to spar with us on sparring night, exposing students to various martial arts styles and philosophies, which was very refreshing and challenging. This school teaches legitimate martial arts. This is not a point-fighting tournament school that just teaches students to land strikes for competition
I’ve been training martial arts in Tallahassee since 1988. I’ve seen, met, and/or trained with the best and worst this city has to offer. Without reservation I can say Logan’s is the best. I started there in 2009. From the generation of instructors back then including Bill, Chad, Colin, Kristy, Amos and Catherine (who are still there) to the new generation of instructors like Jon, Roger, and Stephen, the best and most authentic martial arts are taught at Logan’s. I was fortunate enough to fight for Bill in several MMA fights and captained and helped train his up and coming fighters until an unrelated injury took me out of the game but to this day I still consider Bill and the whole Logan’s crew to be family. Whether you want to get in shape or learn to defend yourself in the streets, look no further than Logan’s Martial Arts.
I started attending Logan's Martial Arts academy at the recommendation of a friend, and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions of my life. I had the privilege of attending the Kenpo classes, kickboxing, and the Krav Maga classes. I not only learned discipline and respect for both my peers and my instructors, but I also got into the best shape of my life. Master Bill and Mrs. Tammy are two of the kindest, respectful, and patient instructors I have ever encountered, and their knowledge and passion for Martial Arts is unmatched. Everything they do is to improve the school and enhance the learning of their students. I learned real, practical self defense from them and found confidence in myself. It's definitely a school more than worth attending.
I am so pleased to have found this school!! My entire family trains here and I no longer have to worry about my teenage daughter being a victim or my son being bullied at his school.!!! Master Bill is a Fantastic teacher and all of his staff are TOP NOTCH, they really know how to teach the most practical self defense I have ever seen, even after 15 years in the Marines!!!. I truly believe this is the finest training in Tallahassee and I and my family will be a student's of Logan's probably for the rest of my life and I know my kids will be prepared for any self defense situations they may encounter in this scary changing world. The fees are nominal but the peace of mind for me is PRICELESS.
