I’ve been training jiu-jitsu over well 10 years and have had the opportunity to train at several schools during my journey from Long Island to Florida. Finding the right place to train was very important to me. When I first moved, Gracie Venice hadn’t opened yet, so I joined another school. About two years later, Gracie Venice opened, and I kept hearing nothing but amazing things about Troy and the Gracie Venice methodology. Before joining Gracie Venice, I had honestly lost interest in jiu-jitsu. I was just going through the motions and no longer felt the same passion I once had for the art. But that all changed when I finally took a leap of faith and joined the Gracie Venice Academy, and I’m so glad I did. I feel completely re-energized and excited to learn and train again. From day one, everyone is welcoming, supportive, and focused on helping each other improve, no matter your experience level. It truly feels like a team, not just a place to train. One of the things that stands out most is the level of talent on the mats. It’s not unusual to have five black belts training at any given moment, which creates an environment where you’re constantly learning from high-level practitioners. Very proud to be a part of this gym . Professor Troy is a great humble leader . I trained with him at the beginning of his MMA career, way back in the day . When I heard he was coming back to Venice and opening a school I was truly excited . The plan was to show love and support . Long story short my wife and I and my daughter signed up . My daughter has been doing the kids class and my wife and I do the adult class right after. Very convenient for our family . I truly enjoy his coaching . He coaches each individual according to their needs . He truly takes pride in coaching his students . When I signed up I was 207 it’s been 3 weeks and now I’m 192 lbs with a long way to go and when he gives me advice he says we . That truly shows his investment into helping me achieve my goals . I’m a new student here, but I’ve been training jiu-jitsu for almost three years. Troy is a great instructor who clearly cares about both his gym and what he’s teaching. The last time I trained consistently was over a year ago, so I was a bit nervous about getting back into it—but every single person I’ve rolled with has been respectful and great to work with. Having trained at other schools in the area, I can confidently say this is the best jiu-jitsu gym around. I’m looking forward to continuing my training and growing with Troy and the team.
I can't say enough great things about Gracie Venice! From the first day I stepped onto the mats, everyone made me feel incredibly welcome and part of the community.
