Dominic Gonzalez is a phenomenal coach and has something to offer anyone interested in Brazilian Jujitsu from beginner to advanced. His credentials go without saying as he is highly respected for his ability within the SWFL jujitsu community. My BJJ journey started at the age of 35 (don’t let age stop you from trying BJJ) with Dom years ago with me having no prior experience in combat sports and little natural ability. He gave up his weekends and worked with me over the years; I fell in love with the sport because of him. Something that started because I thought it might be cool to get a little exercise and learn a couple things turned into what I hope is a lifelong journey in an exceptionally interesting sport. If he can teach me he can teach anyone. All the best Dom and can’t wait until see you on the mats again. Until then I hope you take care and much success.
Professor Dom is a great teacher, He loves Jiu-Jitsu and teaches in a manner that emanates both his joy and detailed understanding of the sport. I came from Canada to escape the snow during February and trained several times at his Do Jo, Gracie North Port Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Professor Dom was welcoming, professional and took the time to learn about my own skill set so that we could engage in a thoughtful and safe manner. He has a disarming and calming approach to his teaching style. You can tell that he has a deep understanding as he will demonstrate examples of various outcomes depending on certain moves and responses with what was being taught. We did several guard exercises which I found helpful. He touched on certain nuances about positions that made a huge difference. He rolled to my level and allowed me to demonstrate what I learned and then let me experience a little bit of his skill (which needed only very limited utilization)
Dom is a fantastic jiu jitsu coach: not only does he possess an array of skills and vast knowledge on the topic but more importantly he is able to convey this information to a wide array of people’s of varying levels of fitness, athleticism, experience, and comfort with grappling. He is able to take anyone from a complete beginner and instruct them to be able to actively participate in their own growth in this martial art. I have had private lessons with dom as well which he approaches with professionalism and I highly recommend to students of any level.
I've been practicing BJJ with Dom for about a year now. Each and every class my skills sharpen and my knowledge deepens. He has makes class fun and informative. The group has been very welcoming. I look forward to training at Gracie North Port. I'm confident anyone that trains here will become a better fighter and better human.
I’ve been training with coach Dom for over 2 years now. When he open here in North Port it was a no brainer. Dom is a super technical bjj practitioner and coach. He loves the sport and self defense of Jiu-jitsu. He is patient and knowledgeable when he teaches ….And the gym is super clean! I highly recommend Gracie North Port!!
Coach Dom is one of the most technical Juijitsu coaches I’ve had the opportunity to learn from. He coaches in a way that is easy for everyone to understand and execute! If you are a beginner or veteran in Juijitsu I would recommend Coach Dom.
