Professor Jonatas brings world-class experience and elite-level competition pedigree to every class, he’s not only an incredible coach but an active champion who still competes and wins at the highest levels. His passion and dedication are unmatched, and the fact that he personally coaches every student is rare and invaluable. My son has been training here since the academy opened, and the transformation has been incredible, not just in his jiu-jitsu skills, but in his confidence, discipline, and overall character. I feel so lucky that our family found Jonatas and Channel Islands Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It’s more than a Jiu Jitsu studio, it’s turned into our family! My son and daughter have been going for 3 years, then my husband joined 2 years ago, and finally I joined 1 year ago- so it truly is a family affair! It is a privilege to be trained by a world class athlete like Jonatas. It has added so much value to our lives and we love the friendly nature of the academy and the students. Channel Islands BJJ is phenomenal. Jonatas is a master teacher, mentor and leader. He attracts and maintains a wonderful community of people from all ages and backgrounds. It is a welcoming, family-oriented, supportive and positive community. His technical training is outstanding. My son is 14 and has been training at CI BJJ for 3 years. He is developing excellent bjj skills and more importantly is doing so with maturity and confidence. Can’t say enough about Jonatas and Channel Islands BJJ. We are so lucky to have this studio in Ventura!
I have been wanting to join a BJJ academy for years, however, I was apprehensive due to some of the hot headed and ego driven people I've witnessed in professional MMA. Last year, I started both of my daughters (5 & 8 years old) at Channel Islands BJJ with the intention of helping them build self confidence, and I am already seeing them becoming more mentally strong and more resilient to life's challenges. The environment that professor Jonatas has cultivated is more like a family, void of ego and selfishness, as we all rise together. I started attending adult classes a few months ago and now I am completely hooked. I am a life long surfer and this is the perfect balance of cross training I have been looking for. This has been life changing for me as it gives me something to strive to excel at and an outlet for me to excersice when the waves get bad. Channel Islands BJJ in Ventura has been a wonderful environment for my 2 boys. The class has provided my children with a sense of community and belonging as they have both built strong bonds with the other children/families in the class. The instructor does a wonderful job encouraging my kids and helps them strive for improvement in every class. I am grateful for the positive impact that Channel Islands BJJ has had on my children and highly recommend it to parents who are looking for a well rounded activity for their kids.
Channel Islands BJJ has changed my life! Professor Jonatas and the team are like Family! My daughters, wife and I have been apart of the Academy for 3 years. The academy just recently has moved locations. The new academy is so clean and new, and In a good part of Ventura.
