AboutEffective Arts Jiu-Jitsu Academy is a Shingu Fighter affiliate gym out of Stockton California. EAJJA was established during the lockdown of 2020 by Dave & Greg. Over the last 4 years Dave and Greg have refined their skills and developed the most effective training system in the area.

I've been training at Effective Arts Academy for a year and I can't recommend it enough! The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely care about each student’s progress. They create a welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy for beginners and experienced people alike to feel at home. The classes are well-structured, focusing on both technique and sparring. I've noticed significant improvements in my skills and confidence. The community here is supportive, making it easy to forge friendships and push each other to grow. The facility is clean and well-equipped, with plenty of space for drills and rolling. If you're looking for a place to learn jiu-jitsu and meet great people, Effective Arts Academy is the perfect choice!
I started here in October 2025 with my two sons, and it’s been a great experience for all of us. From day one, the professors have been knowledgeable, patient, and always willing to help. They take the time to break things down in a way that makes it easy to understand, especially for beginners like me. The vibe in the gym is solid — good professors, good teammates, good energy all around. It’s a positive environment for both adults and kids. Everyone pushes each other to get better while keeping it respectful. The mats are always clean, and they’re big on hygiene, which I really appreciate, especially training with my kids. The pricing is reasonable, and whether you’re just starting out, training as a hobbyist, or looking to compete, this is a great place to be. Glad we made the decision to start here.

I attended Effective Arts Women’s Self Defense Seminar in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Owner/Instructors Dave & Greg with the assistance of Dennis & Carlton, taught us valuable techniques and self defense moves to keep up safe in these changing times.
