I train at Ares in Lathrop, and honestly, it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made. From day one, I felt welcomed—not just as a student, but as part of a community. Everyone is friendly, supportive, and genuinely wants to see each other improve. What really stands out to me is the environment. It’s super positive and very family-oriented. I’ve seen how great they are with kids, and it’s awesome watching them build confidence and discipline while still having fun. It’s not just a place to train—it’s a place people actually enjoy being. I was nervous about trying jiu-jitsu because I was completely new, but Cassia made me feel welcome from the very beginning. She is a professional, kind and passionate instructor who explains everything clearly and consistently checks in to ensure that we understand what we are doing and why. The gym is clean, easily accessible, and has plenty of parking available. The community is friendly and supportive, and even the more experienced members are happy to help. Every class begins and ends with gratitude, which I really appreciate. It’s definitely challenging, but in the best way. If you're looking for a positive and welcoming place to start or continue jiu-jitsu, this is it.
Great and affordable classes for myself and my kids. I attend the 11am adult class as often as I can. It is learn as you go basis. I do not have any martial arts background but I find the classes easy to follow and the instructors and classmates are all very helpful in this journey. My kids attend the toddler and kids class and they enjoy it as well. Just before warned the gi is a bit of an adjustment of your little ones, but other thank that coach Cassia and Ryan do a great job of keeping them engaged and encourage thier competitive spirits while instilling discipline.
