Martial arts has always been a lifestyle for my family since my daughters were very young. They are all teens now and we still feel strongly that being able to defend yourself is very important. We studied the martial arts for about 4 years when our school closed and our instructor left. My husband missed martial arts most of all and went on a 3 1/2 year search for a new school. He specifically wanted to find a place that didn’t just teach the movements, but the whys and the hows behind those movements! He found exactly what he was looking for at Jeff Speakman’s Kenpo 5.0 Martial Arts! Kenpo 5.0 is a hybrid of the traditional stand up American Kenpo with a mix of ground fighting defense as well. It is truly the total package when it comes to real world fighting scenarios! My husband fell in love with it and has since got my daughter and myself involved in this amazing system. I started at Jeff Speakman's Kenpo 5.0 North Bay over 2 and a half years ago. After watching our children do various forms of martial arts, my husband and I decided we'd like to give it a try. It's something I went into not knowing AT ALL what to expect. Well, 2.5 years later I have found it was one of the best decisions I made. The instructors hold you to a high standard, and I love it. Moving up in rank is awesome, but I find the focus is more on perfecting what you have at your current level before moving on. We work hard and train hard, so when the time comes to move up to the next belt color, you truly feel you've earned it. It's also fun, and everyone there is friendly. It's like another family. If you want to work hard, learn ways to defend yourself against anyone wanting to do you harm, be physically active and challenge yourself....I would highly recommend this school.
this is an amazing place to be a part of! There are martial arts classes for all ages (as long as you're at least 5 years old or older)! There are also fitness kickboxing classes coming soon and every option and resource this plsce has helps improve your physical and mental health. Not to mention confidence, self-esteem, etc. The staff and students here are also very friendly! They also are welcoming to dogs and babiesHighly recommend this place! Jeff Speakman's Kenpo 5.0 is incredible system. If you are looking for a Martial Arts school you should give it a look. I had study a different system for about 4 years and had to stop for several reasons, one being some serious injuries.( Not Kenpo related). Anyways after being out of it for about another 4 years I wanted to get back into it. I found this small school and fell in love with it. The martial arts system is great, very practical, effective and fun. The best part is the instructors. Very well balanced in knowledge, application, instruction and support. beyond just the incredible instructors Mr. Bates, Ms. Row, Miss French and Mr. O'Shaughnessy, We have often get instruction from other black belts in the system all the way up to Mr. Speakman himself. This is a great school, from a solid association, offering an incredible system in a family atmosphere. It does not get much better then this.
This place is the real deal. The people are caring and friendly and the training is legit. I've trained in different kinds of martial arts since I was eight years old and what this place offers is high quality training, knowledge, real life self defense skills, and the opportunity to challenge and improve yourself physically and mentally. The instructors are very dedicated and competent. I highly recommend JSK northbay for people of all ages and ability levels.
All of the instructors are so passionate and the dedication to each individuals success is incredible. I am an adult in the school and have loved every minute of it. I have seen the instructors interact with the kids classes and love the confidence and compassion they teach. I recommend them to everyone. People looking for martial arts, discipline, confidence, and compassion for themselves or their kids this is the place.
