My family and I have been here since he opened. We’ve been to a number of gyms before this one, and none have come close to the amazing experiences we have had at The Lair. The culture here is awesome! At The Lair, we can be ourselves around everyone at the gym. No drama, no egos, never any bad vibes. The kids program is structured, simplified, competitive and really pushes the kids to be better inside and outside of the gym. The parents are all getting pretty close too! The adult classes are really fun, Coach Mike teaches great jiu jitsu that is realistic, modern, competition tested and EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND APPLY. This gym is home. Everyone here feels like family, like we’ve known each other for years. I can’t recommend it enough to anyone reading this.
The Lair is a great gym it’s very well rounded and has something to offer anybody interested in Jiu jitsu to the seasoned competitors, hobbyists, or someone looking to get in shape and just want to learn the basics of Jiu Jitsu. Professor Mike Flach is a great man and makes everyone feel like family when you walk through those doors. Also there’s a thriving kids program if you have some young one’s who want to get started on the mats as well. If you’re in the area and thinking about joining a Jiu jitsu Academy I’d recommend The Lair as a top option for you to consider! -Dillon
Best place to train BJJ. The word "train" is important in this context because I find this place very different than other schools. (1) Great coach + great training partners. (2) Great training culture & Good environment where you can learn and develop your technique. Instructors do watch you and fix/adjust your technique as needed. If you want to develop your jiujitsu, this is the place. If you are new and have no clue, this is definitely the place to start. Try them out and see for yourself. You will see the difference.
I have been looking around for Martial Art School for my 14 years old boy Justin. for sometimes. He never seemed to be happy with his previous Karate School. But, then, I found this place (recently opened). I emailed the Sensei (Master, Mike) He replied right away with warm welcome words. I set up first class trial out the same day. I saw how Mike conducted the class on time. Every one is learning at their own pace, He'd come around and assisted each individual who was behind with the new technique. With my former Taekwondo Instructor Experience I can tell Mike is a Great Teacher. After witnessing the Sensei in action I immediately signed my Boy up for the first month while the class is in session, and Plan to sign him up for as long as he has interested in Jiu Jitsu. If you are the skeptic like me, email Sensei Mike, or come in to see for yourself. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Thank you Sensei Mike
Mike has professional MMA/Combat Jiujitsu experience. He has a wrestling background and is a grappling beast⚡ I have yet to train at his new school due to my work schedule but I've been learning from him since around 2013. I have a nikyu rank in judo and wrestled collegiately and Mike still beats me up in a kind way (even though he doesn't have to). More important than just his savage skills are his ability to teach and the fact that he's genuinely a good dude. Great with kids and adults. Always welcoming and he knows how to cater to various skill levels. Everyone loves the guy so you won't regret the opportunity to learn from him. I rarely leave reviews so that's a testament to how cool of a dude he is. Most of the time. Jk. Also, great music selection 🤘🏽
I have been at the Lair for almost a year now. Having a Gracie CTC background, The Lair is 100% the breath of fresh air that I didn't know I needed, jiu jitsu culture-wise. The comradery is like nothing I've ever experienced. We push each other, support each other, and cheer each other on. Being at The Lair has given me my love for Jiu Jitsu back, and I am so grateful for it. I highly recommend checking The Lair out if you want to try jiu jitsu for the first time, cross train, or even 'Open Mat' night and want to get some rolls in.
