The community that Jenny and Dom have created at ECA is unlike anything else I've experienced. They are experts in jiu jitsu and they are phenomenal teachers and incredibly kind humans as well. ECA is a family-centered gym in the best way possible. Jenny has especially put a lot of focus on creating a welcoming and safe environment for women of all ages to train (jiu jitsu, self defense, yoga, strength training, LIFE) and have a community of support as well. Dom has so much experience and knowledge within the jiu jitsu/martial arts area, and his classes are tough, but so much fun! All of the other coaches and instructors are kind & knowledgable as well. I love training at ECA when I have the chance to drive to north county. From the outside it may appear small, but once you step inside, you instantly feel at home. Believe me, you will not regret checking it out!!
Escondido Combat Academy – A True Martial Arts Gem I can’t say enough good things about Escondido Combat Academy. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced martial artist, this place has everything you could ask for. The instructors are top-notch, blending deep expertise with genuine passion for teaching. They create an environment where you feel challenged, supported, and inspired to improve every session. What stands out most is the sense of community. Everyone here, from the coaches to the students, is welcoming and eager to help each other grow. The academy offers a variety of classes, including Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and wrestling, so you can really round out your skills no matter what your focus is. The facility itself is always clean, well-maintained, and equipped with high-quality mats and gear. You’ll find a respectful, yet competitive atmosphere that pushes you to be your best. Whether you’re training for competition or just
Escondido Combat is a great academy where my children have been training for 9 months and I have seen a great change not only in their boxing and jiu jitsu techniques but I have also seen that they have much more confidence in themselves. They love their afternoons because they go to train. Couch Colin, Dom and Jen are incredible trainers. They have a lot of patience with the children and I can see in them the love and passion they put into each training session. I also love to say that this sport has helped my 8-year-old son with autism .It is one of the best therapies for him and has helped him a lot to control his aggressive behavior because he leaves all his energy in each training session. I also love that the coaches treat him with respect, love, patience but without being strict with him when it is their turn to correct him. It's not just training, they also play with them at the end of the class, but they are games that help the
I’m completely new to martial arts and started training primarily for self-defense. I was specifically looking for a women-only martial arts class, which was hard to find, but ECA offers an amazing women’s program that made my introduction feel safe, comfortable, and empowering. Everyone at ECA is incredibly kind, supportive, and respectful, creating a welcoming environment for women; especially when transitioning into co-ed, male-dominated martial arts classes. The martial arts coaches are knowledgeable, patient, and excellent teachers who truly help their students’ progress and confidence. I’m beyond happy to have found ECA for self-defense training, and I’m grateful for all the skills and knowledge I’ve gained so far. I highly recommend ECA to any woman looking for martial arts training, self-defense classes, or a supportive gym community.
Number one: I love having a clean dojo! It smells so good and inviting. Plus, since my kids are there, and we train together, I feel very comfortable that they are learning different martial arts, including ground work. #LearnByPlay Coach Dom, Coach Jen, Miss Jess, and so much of the staff truly get to know their clients without being invasive. They genuinely care about people, their well-being; and how they can help. This community environment is still growing and quite quickly at that. Be a part of its incipient stages. It’s not your average gym. So if you’re tired of the same ol’, you’ve found your new go to to invest in yourself—and your family. Looking forward to meeting the new gym family when you sign up
I have spent the last month attending the women's challenge, the trial for the new women's course. Jenny is an incredible instructor who makes everyone feel welcome, accepts you for where you are at, and also pushes you to accomplish more than you thought you could. I leave class feeling strong, refreshed, and proud of what I accomplished. We have explored self-defense, jiu jitsu, boxing, and kick boxing in addition to strength and conditioning. I look forward to class every time and the community of other women and moms who want to rejoice in their bodies and feel powerful again. I highly recommend it! My son has been attending the boxing and ABC class for a few months and absolutely loves it. He leaves feeling confident and so happy.
