Samurai BJJ was a welcoming and knowledgeable atmosphere with a clean gym tucked away on a busy road. I came home on leave for a few weeks and found Samurai BJJ and knew I’d have a good experience from speaking to the owner on the phone prior to coming and training under Kevin in the early morning classes. I HIGHLY recommend Samurai BJJ to folks in the area looking for a new home or a one to start at, you’ll be treated with dignity and respect by the staff and folks training there as well as learning some quality Jiu Jitsu. Thank you Samurai BJJ!
“I am 8 years old and have been learning from Mr. Rich since I was 6 and I feel strong and confident being able to protect and defend myself against mean kids and bullies. Mr. Rich doesn’t baby us. He treats us with respect and challenges us and he can be funny too. You don’t get promoted to the next belt without working really hard so you feel very proud when you do get recognized. Samurai Jiu Jitsu rocks and Mr. Rich is a cool cat! :)))” -Testimony from my daughter and I whole-heartedly agree. Jiujitsu is a great defensive martial arts for children and can form a solid foundation for them to branch onto other martial arts disciplines. I appreciate Rich’s style and attitude. A great mentor for each child he encounters. Dojo is always kept clean, sanitary and safe for everyone.
My 6-year-old daughter was hesitant about starting a martial arts. I wanted to find a place that eased her into martial arts while teaching her some positive lifelong skills to boost confidence. Rich is an extremely patient, kind instructor and after a 2 week trial, my daughter requested to go to her "fun-jitsu" class as much as possible! The dojo is very clean and well-kept, the membership pricing is affordable and more importantly, the kid is learning and having fun at once. Come check it out and you'll be impressed. I like that it has no long-term commitment contracts, etc. No pressure - just a supportive environment in which to learn Jiu Jitsu!
My son seems to have very little interest in any physical activities, but for some reason he really enjoys samurai Brazilian jiu jitsu. He will often ask me when is the next class. I like how they offer a no hassle 1 week free trial. No pressure in sales or anything. Classes are offer from Mondays to Saturdays and class capacity is pretty open. For the monthly subscription price and the class flexibility, I think the class is totally worth it. Definitely would recommend for anybody or at least try their one week trial.
Rich, Kevin and other instructors are beyond amazing. Their jiu jitsu speaks for itself, but on top of that they are friendly, professional, and have developed a gym culture that shirks off the sensei worship, and authoritative atmosphere that normally come along with martial arts. Instead the atmosphere is fun, friendly, and intense. The facilities are brand new, and more than you could expect or ask for in a Dojo. Their is a wide range in types of people and attendance so there is always someone your size and skill to train with. Come check it out!
I've visited once during an open mat and it was awesome. Smiles per square feet was off the charts. In my experience living in the Bay Area I've met personally a number of people that either train here or have their young children train here and I've literally only gotten positive feedback. Super open no matter what school you train at or what experience level you are. If I was in the area, I'd choose to train here. If you are around this school, please check it out. It'll be well worth it!
