Our experience at Gracie Barra Peoria has been nothing short of incredible. My son joined when he was just 5½ years old, and now at 9 years old, he has earned his grey belt through hard work, dedication, and consistent training. He has competed in several Gi competitions and has recently begun competing in No-Gi as well. The preparation and coaching he receives are outstanding. The professors are supportive, knowledgeable and truly invested in each student’s growth. Over the years, they have become like family to us. My son trains four days a week and has not only developed strong self-defense skills but also discipline, confidence, and a competitive mindset that pushes him to continually improve. The environment is welcoming and family-oriented, with many families training together, which creates a strong sense of community. Gracie Barra Peoria has been an outstanding place to train. The mats and facilities are always clean and well maintained, which makes a huge difference when you’re training consistently. The professors truly care about their students and constantly push everyone to become the best version of themselves both on and off the mats. What really sets this gym apart, though, is the people. The mat mates here are welcoming, supportive, and many of them have grown into close friends over time. It’s an incredible environment whether you’re brand new or experienced in jiu-jitsu. Highly recommend to anyone looking for high-quality training and a strong community.
Phenomenal Jiu-Jitsu Experience! My son has been attending jiu-jitsu classes with Professor Dan at Gracie Barra Peoria, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Professor Dan is not only a 3rd-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but also an exceptional mentor who brings out the best in every student. His teaching style is clear, encouraging, and deeply rooted in discipline and respect. Since starting, my son has grown tremendously in confidence, focus, and physical fitness. The environment is welcoming and structured, and the emphasis on both technique and character development is exactly what we were looking for. Professor Dan’s passion for the art and his students is evident in every class. This program has exceeded all our expectations. If you’re looking for a place where your child can thrive both on and off the mat, this is it. Five stars without hesitation!
My children started GB Jiu-Jitsu class a while ago and they've loved going ever since. The staff have been nothing but helpful and friendly, their senseis are funny and the kids are constantly learning new skills and being encouraged. They encourage good training behaviors on the mat and check in on behavior at home to help them seek personal advancement in their training and get them competition ready. My children actually look forward to going to their classes and seeing their friends, not to mention the events. I'd highly recommend this class to anyone with young children.
We absolutely love Gracie Barra Peoria! The coaches are incredible — patient, professional, and truly amazing with kids. They take the time to teach proper technique while also building confidence, discipline, and respect. The environment is welcoming, structured, and very family-oriented. From day one, they made us feel like part of the team. The instructors balance fun and discipline perfectly, which keeps the kids engaged and excited to come back. If you’re looking for a place where your child will grow not just in skill but also in character, this is it. Highly recommend to any parent in the Peoria area!
I love GB Peoria. I would take my granddaughter here several times a week and even got to train with her on Saturday mornings when they have family training. My grandson trains here, my SiL trained here and one of my daughter’s trains here. (They have a fantastic female program.) I’ve been training here for a couple + years now. Very welcoming with fantastic professors. Wish I started when I was younger but glad I’m doing it now!
