Follow to Technical Mount
Also known as: Tech Mount Follow · Mount Ride
When the mounted opponent turns to their side to escape, don’t fight it — follow: post one foot by their hips, keep the other shin across their back, and ride the turn instead of losing it.
Transition · Gi & No-gi · Difficulty 2/5 · Usually learned at Blue belt
Starts from Mount as the mounted player (top) → lands in Technical Mount .
The details that make it work
The moment their shoulder turns, your same-side foot steps up beside their hip. Your other shin stays glued across their lower back; your chest stays over their shoulder. From here: collar grips, armbars, or simply harvest the back when they keep turning.
Where it goes wrong Riding too high toward the shoulders, letting them slip out underneath the posted leg.
How opponents counter it Turn back flat before the foot posts Elbow-knee escape under the posted leg
Is the Follow to Technical Mount legal in competition?
