Single Leg X Sweep

Also known as: SLX Sweep · Ashi Sweep · Off-Balance from Single X

From single leg X, lift their trapped leg and steer their hips past their free foot — they fall backward and you come up into their open guard, footlock threats trailing behind.

Sweep · Gi & No-gi · Difficulty 2/5 · Usually learned at Blue belt

Starts from Single Leg X as the slx player → lands in Open Guard.

The details that make it work

  1. The outside leg on their hip extends them; your inside hook lifts the trapped knee line.
  2. Off-balance them over their free leg’s heel — one post cannot hold a moving load.
  3. Come up holding the trapped ankle; you can pass, or drop back to the straight ankle lock if they scramble.
