Shin-to-Shin to Single Leg X

Also known as: Shin-on-Shin Entry · Seated Leg Entry

The safest seated route to the legs: your shin connects to their shin, you elevate their leg, and slide underneath into single leg X before they can back away.

Transition · Gi & No-gi · Difficulty 2/5 · Usually learned at Blue belt

Starts from Shin-to-Shin Guard as the guard player → lands in Single Leg X.

The details that make it work

  1. Shin-to-shin contact plus a hand behind their same-side ankle or knee — they cannot retreat the leg.
  2. Elevate their leg with your shin as you slide your hips under their base.
  3. Swap the shin hook for the SLX configuration: outside leg to their hip, inside hook behind their knee.
