Also known as: Collar-and-Elbow Tie · Over-Under Clinch · Body Lock (standing) · Tie-Ups
Standing with committed upper-body connection — collar ties, underhooks, overhooks, two-on-ones, or a body lock. The clinch is where takedowns are actually finished: whoever wins inside position (underhooks and head position) controls where the fight goes next.

Back Takes
Duck Under — Lift or float their elbow, change levels, and slip your head under the arm to come up behind them in a rear body lock or back control.
Takedowns
Ankle Pick — Snap the head down with a collar tie (or collar grip) and pick the same-side ankle as their weight loads onto it — a low-risk, high-percentage takedown.
Body Lock Takedown — Lock your hands around the torso with at least one underhook, squeeze chest-to-chest, and finish with an outside trip or an angle drive.
Uchi Mata — The queen of judo throws: lift your opponent’s inner thigh with the back of your own leg while their balance is drawn forward and over.
O Goshi — The fundamental hip throw: arm around the waist, hips in and under, and your opponent rides over your hip to the mat.
