I have been in the martial arts for decades. I am a high ranking black belt in Kenpo Karate, over two decades of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, competed and trained in mma. I have been a guest instructor at Warhorse Karate & Jiu-Jitsu and recently observed a couple classes. All the classes instruction and the way the classes were run was impressive. I also watched a great class taught by Head Instructor / co-owner of Warhorse Karate & Jiu-Jitsu Damon Tong on realistic self-defense situations, I was very impressed. I highly recommend Warhorse Karate & Jiu-Jitsu. They teach top notch realistic self-defense for today’s world for all ages, from young children to older adults.
Warhorse Karate •Jiu Jitsu provides an exceptional foundation for youth training and development. Their emphasis on character, discipline, and accountability has helped shape our children into thoughtful & respectful young boys, while their physical and technical training has provided the confidence for them to grow and excel in many of their athletic pursuits. Mr. Salsby is a genuine and inspirational leader that brings maximum energy to every class and has kept our kids going strong every single week for years. We highly recommend Warhorse Karate for anyone looking to improve their physical and mental strength while receiving top tier black belt lead karate and jujitsu instruction.
My young granddaughter is in the middle of her second year attending Warhorse Karate-Jiu jitsu classes and loves this program. She always has a great time and is excited to get to go to class there each week. All of the kids both show up and leave with big smiles on their faces. The instructor is friendly. I highly recommend this business.
Good energy, good leadership. Like what they stand for and how they teach the kids. Lots of children per class thou and so it makes it harder to give attention to kids that are super new with little muscle mass built up. They need to focus on form for push-ups and some of the other moves they have the kids doing as some of these kids can't even do a pushup at all. Cost is high, required equipment makes it even more high. The major issue we had was the 12 month non negotiable contract. That was the major reason why we chose to go with a different martial arts facility.
I have been a student for several years, and they have always done their absolute best to work with my schedule and financial commitment. The instructors have genuine heart behind what they teach. They will always give an excellent workout along with self defence skills. The sense of community from the other other students makes me look forward to each class. They are very welcoming to new students and I definitely recommend this dojo.
Recently attended a class with my daughter, and I was blown away by the experience! The instructor's teaching style earned the respect of all the children, and it was fascinating to see kids with different personalities and energy levels completely absorbed in the activity. I'm thrilled with my daughter's progress and enthusiasm with her first class, and I'm already seeing the positive impact at home. The north side location is definitely worth checking out!
