I’m so proud of how much my son has grown so much in just a short time in his Jiu-Jitsu training. Watching him tackle each challenge with determination and confidence has been amazing. He handles setbacks with a positive attitude and is slowly forming new friendships at the academy. So far Jiu-Jitsu has truly helped him grow into a stronger, more confident person, and I can’t wait to see how far he goes. At Gracie Barra Spokane Valley, we walked in and immediately felt something special here. My son was welcomed in with open arms from all the professors as well as his peers. The kids here are so welcoming and are willing to help when you are new. Being a new person in any sense can be nerve wracking, however at Gracie Barra Spokane Valley that was not the case. You are fully embraced no matter what kind of training you have. We have been here for about a month now, and I can OFFICIALLY say it's Home. My son wants to go everyday he looks
*Update* 4/4/25 - I was in the area again for work and was able to visit. The professor and team are amazing and my initial review still stands! Great training this morning and great atmosphere! For those looking to try BJJ - This is the place! See original review below: As a visiting white belt, from another state, and new to jiu-jitsu, Gracie Barra Spokane Valley was amazing. Prior to the adult class the kids class was taking place. The compassion, kindness, and coaching put on by this team was amazing. Then to welcome me and treat me so well made me feel so comfortable. They say the hardest belt to get into jujitsu is your white belt because you have to show up. I'm telling you right now whoever's in that area if you're thinking about it this is the place to be. Go check it out.
💯 recommend this place. My 5 year old started his Jiu jitsu here. Coach Elizabeth was incredible. She is very respectful and patient with kids. If you are looking to start your BJJ journey, this place will not disappoint you. Coach Charlotte was very nice. Her and coach Elizabeth are both welcoming! We’ll miss them and if ever we come back to Spokane again, for sure we’ll re-enroll my kid here again.
I cannot say enough good things about this place. My son has been wanting to get into some type of martial arts and I found this place to try for a free class. Right away the kids made him feel welcomed, the instructors are phenomenal. The flexibility with the classes are a huge bonus. Highly recommend for any age kids. A few months in and my kid had his first competition and did amazing! Professor Markus and the whole coaching staff and parents are just incredibly.
I spent a lot time looking into gyms, getting ignored or ghosted. Gracie Barra was very responsive and got me in for a trial class the following week. The atmosphere and people were extremely welcoming, from the beginners to the professor. I would highly recommend this gym for anyone who is looking into getting into Jiu Jitsu, or for people that are looking for a new place to train.
I've been at this gym since the very first day it opened, and it will soon be 2 years since then and I couldn't be more pleased with the fact that I started when I did. Professor Markus and coach Charlotte are great and very technical teachers, there is much to learn from them both and they are always patient and never hesitate to answer questions or assist with technique during a class. They ensure we remain safe while rolling yet allowing a still competitive atmosphere for learning. If you feel that it's time to learn how to defend yourself effectively, begin a new sport and compete or simply get into and stay in shape, I couldn't recommend this place more.
