Awesome place to learn jiu jitsu. Welcoming atmosphere. Mats are always clean and disinfected before and after every class. Follows covid 19 polices. Professor Matt is an awesome instructor and really makes jiu jitsu fun. His teaching methods are on point and he's always willing to work with you, he treats everyone the same if your a purple belt or someone new off the street and it's your first day. Everyone who trains there is polite and welcoming to all new members. If your thinking about training jiu jitsu look no further, we are waiting for you!
This is absolutely a great gym. Our instructor has a very strong presence both as a practitioner of Jiu-Jitsu and teacher. He is able to effectively and clearly communicate the lessons as well as always willing to take time to explain details further with any student if needed. Professor Matt has cultivated an atmosphere in the gym that is open and promotes the most important aspect of the sport which is continual self growth through Jiu-Jitsu. We do not smash each other for 60 minutes every lesson - in this gym 'drillers make killers'. Jiu-jitsu is hard, it will make you hurt but it will give you significantly more in return. At Hors Normes you will find a cadre of fellow students for constant support, a safe training environment, and a top notch school lead by a tough and practical instructor.
Atos League City Jiu-Jitsu is an outstanding gym! Coach Matt is an incredible instructor, breaking down techniques in a way that’s easy to understand, whether you're a beginner or advanced. The gym is clean, and has a great atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and supportive, making it an ideal place to train. I've learned so much already and highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their Jiu-Jitsu. 5 stars!
This gym provides the best authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction in Houston. Home of world champions. Excellent instruction with an individualized approach toward helping you achieve your fitness goals. Very beginner friendly, very clean facility, and most of all a fun place to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The instructors make everything simple for new comers, but are very capable of coaching and fine tuning even the most advanced practitioners. If you want to compete at the highest levels or just pick up a new hobby, this is the place to go.
Started here at Hors Normes without a background in grappling or martial arts as a middle aged man, but that wasn’t a problem for Coach Matt. Coach Matt provides very clear instruction and works to adapt it to everyones individual abilities. Really appreciate the morning and evening schedule of classes. Makes finding time to attend around a busy schedule easy. Great group of students too. Glad to have found this place, just wish I had made the choice sooner. Definitely what I was looking for!
I train BJJ at Hors Normes almost every day and I can't recommend this gym enough. Head instructor Professor Jonatas is a superb teacher. You will learn great Jiu-Jitsu here...Jonatas focuses on drilling and specific training to ensure you are learning techniques thoroughly. You will also get great workouts as other members train safe but will definitely challenge you when you roll!
