Kahana is an incredible instructor and I can't recommend his classes enough! I took both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and a women's self defense class with him and I learned so much from him in those classes. His knowledge, experience, passion and dedication to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and self defense goes above and beyond anything I could’ve expected. His teaching style is very professional, knowledgable, clear and organized. Regardless of your level of experience, Kahana will break things down in an easy to understand and accessible way for all levels in an individualized way. Sensei Kahana and I are Family. I grew up with Kahana. We attended the same family church. Elementary and High school. After returning to Kohala in 2012 from living on the mainland and Oahu Kahana and I crossed paths and he had already opened his Jiu jitsu studio in Kohala our home town. I trained with my cousins and had such an amazing experience. So blessed to have such a loving , kind-hearted and devoted family member who devotes himself to God , Family , youth and adults in our community by teaching Jiu jitsu. My Grandsons trained with Kahana as well. Our Ohana is so proud of him. Mahalo so much my cousin! Love you beyond words and may Gods hands be upon you always. Ossss!
New life Is the best academy I could ever ask for. I wouldn’t want to be training anywhere else, Professor Kahana is the best instructor you could have. He treats everyone with care and pays much attention to his students to elevate their game. Not only that but he cares enough to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable enough to train. This is not something you’ll find everywhere, but at new life this is what they bring. The environment is so welcoming and if you want a place to train jiu-jitsu, this is the place to be. Your game will expand and you’ll grow in ways that help you with life. New life Jiu-jitsu will change your life.
Professor Kahana is absolutely amazing! He is incredibly patient, encouraging, and truly cares about each child’s growth, not just in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but in confidence and character as well. We’ve loved watching Ryker not only improve his skills but also believe in himself more with each class. I can’t wait until my second son and my daughter are old enough to train with Professor Kahana too. Ryker looks forward to class every single week, and if we ever have to miss one, rest assured I won’t hear the end of it! I’m so excited to see how far he will go and can’t wait for the day we’re cheering him on in competitions. We absolutely love New Life Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy and are so grateful to be a part of it!
Saying how glad we are that coach Kahana decided to open New Life is an understatement. My son struggled in school with being bullied,not finding his spot in football or soccer like other kids. With Kahana's help, my son AND daughter have gained so much confidence. They beg to go to class and are excited to share what they have learned! They gained a supportive community and a true role model and mentor in Kahana. I could not be more proud of how they have blossomed. It also gives me the piece of mind that my children will be able to defend themselves.They are gaining self-defense skills ,and self confidence along the way. Coach takes pride in his students,their well being and his mentorship. We have really found a second family on the mat 💙
New Life Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Review 🌟 I met Kahana in the late 90's and started our jiujitsu journey about the same time. He's a good dude and great friend. Kahana has a wealth of knowledge and teaching experience and supportive towards his students, and the community is awesome. You'll get great technique and overall fitness. The classes are well-structured, and the training is intense but fun. If you're looking for a great place to learn BJJ, I'd definitely recommend giving New Life a try. 👍
