I’m getting back into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and travel frequently for work, so finding a gym that welcomes drop-ins and makes training easy while I’m in town is important. Washington Luis Jiu-Jitsu in Deer Park has been outstanding in that regard.<br><br>The instruction is excellent, and the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and hospitable. As someone who is still relatively inexperienced, I immediately felt comfortable training here. My 7 y/o daughter has been training here for a year, and 6 months ago my 4 y/o son joined as well. We couldn’t be happier with our experience.<br><br>Coach Washington is not only highly skilled in BJJ, but his ability to teach and connect with kids truly stands out. He knows when to gently encourage and when to challenge them. He gives the kids a perfect balance between discipline and fun. Coach Mike and Coach Sean are equally wonderful and help create a positive, safe, and motivating environment.<br><br>It’s been amazing to watch both of my kids develop not just in their abilities, but in their confidence, and character as well. I highly recommend this gym to any parent looking for something truly special for their kiddos. You won’t regret it.
I travel for work and a lot of my training now is dropping into BJJ schools. As someone who’s trained consistently for over 7 years and have visited quite a few academies this one ranks towards the top. I watched Professor Luis pay attention and provide detail to students of all levels, from the senior students all the way down to the 2 trial class students. He was constantly motivating and keeping students engaged.<br><br>When rolling with him he could have easily highlight reeled me, but he moved at a speed that constantly made me create space to escape and fight out just to fall into another trapped position. It was a humbling, but fun experience.<br><br>If you’re trying it out for the first time, it’s a great first time experience. If you’re dropping in, it’s a very easy and fun experience. I definitely recommend it and will be back when work sends me this way again.
I had the privilege to be coached by Professor Washington Luis. He is not only a great professor but also an amazing person who truly cares about his students and their progress. I would leave class feeling confident in my training. Although I did not train in his school, the knowledge he shares is high level. I highly recommend anyone wanting to train jiu jitsu to consider his academy.
Coach Washington is an amazing Jiu Jitsu coach. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and has a ton of passion for the sport and teaching his students. Great with kids and adults. Never too late to learn Jiu Jitsu! Gave me the self confidence to take on new adventures in life.
