My son has participated in the kids class for a couple years now and we love it. The coaches have no tollerance for bullying inside and out of class and help your child prepare for any sticky situation they may come across by giving them the knowledge, confidence, and experience on self defense or taking appropriate actions. Coach Chris is patient and is a natural with kids, we are all like one big family. He's genuinely concerned with the child's well-being and makes sure they hold themselves to a higher standard on and off the mat. It's been a great outlet for my non-sports loving son, here he gets to exercise his mind and body. I was exceptionally impressed when a child confided in the coach that he was physically bullied at school once, coach Chris had the child show him what happened and taught him what to do the next time. The roots of this gym go back to Royce Gracie himself. TPC's founder, Pat Hardy, was the first black belt that Royce Gracie ever promoted. I started at TPC not knowing that fact, but since I learned that I have found pride in knowing I am training on mats with such great lineage. Also learning that this gym has produced so many people that have medaled in competitions at the highest stage (IBJJF Worlds) has blown my mind. I casually trained here for several years before getting pretty serious about the training and starting to do some competitions myself. The level of detail that Jason and the other instructors provide is unmatched when compared to other gyms that I have attended. The day my kids are old enough to join the gym they will be training on these mats. As a father who trains, I understand that the best gift that I can give my children is the ability for them to take care of themselves when daddy is not around. TPC and the Kid
I showed up to TPC knowing NOTHING about BJJ (or martial arts in general). As soon as I walked in the door, I felt welcome and my nerves were eased by the friendly and professional staff and other TPC students. Class instruction was appropriate for every level of student, and I received excellent one-on-one instruction to get me off the ground. The other students were also exceptionally helpful to build my confidence and comfort. The atmosphere at TPC is a perfect combination of friendly and tough. I learned that the best way to respect myself and my sparring partner was to push myself mentally and physically until I felt I had given the practice my complete attention and energy - and the instructors were very helpful in challenging me when I needed to step outside of my comfort zone. TPC has inspired me to continue my BJJ training after my move - but now my standards for a BJJ gym are going to be hard to meet!
Joining Texas Punishment Crew in March 2024 was the best decision I’ve ever made. Just five months later, I stepped onto the competition mats for the first time and walked away with a bronze in No Gi and a gold in Gi. From that moment on, I was hooked. TPC has shown me my limits, both physically and mentally, and how to overcome them. Every training session is an opportunity to grow, and every competition is a chance to test myself at the highest level. The journey has been incredible, and I’m more driven than ever to keep improving and competing. I’m grateful for the people who have supported me along the way, my coaches, teammates, my family and most importantly my wife. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see how far Texas Punishment Crew will take me!
So I went to another gym before this one and i was kinda shocked with the way the pricing and availability of training was presented and I called TPC that day to check their price. Jason picked up the phone, told me to get a pillow and come sleep here lol for the unlimited price which was a phenomenal deal. I did a bit of research and they have a very good lineage of teachers. So I went to my first day two weeks ago and I got to do some sidework in the muy thai class which is hitting pads, doing combos, etc. They paired me with one of their more senior students who was nice enough to take the time out of his training to show me how to do stuff and I did not feel like i was being an inconvenience at all. Kevin was leading the class and he showed me what he wanted to see and it was fun. Being overweight and out of shape, no one gave me dirty looks when I did my pushups from my knees nor when i did air squats instead of burpees because of
I had the privilege of visiting TPC BJJ for their advanced class during my time in Beaumont. Everyone there was incredibly welcoming and friendly - black belts, students, and Professor! It's impressive to be welcomed into an unfamiliar academy with such warmth and respect; they made me feel so secure that I felt like part of their family right away. What is truly remarkable, though, is that this gym has been standing strong on its pillar since 30 years ago! And not only can you enjoy a sense of community here, but I can tell it'll also become your second home as soon as you step inside. Needless to say, dropping by again when I'm back in town will definitely happen.
