I arrived from San Diego two years ago looking for a BJJ club to continue my BJJ journey with. I tried several places until finally settling at Atos Jiu Jitsu San Antonio with Professor Nuno. From our very first meeting Professor Nuno has demonstrated unrivaled professionalism as a teacher, a mentor, a guide, and through time (on the mat) an honor to call my Professor. Professor Nuno’s second in command and extension of professionalism at Atos Jiu Jitsu San Antonio is Coach Donnie. I have seen my BJJ grow here as well as friends of mine in San Diego. When I visit and participate in open mats or classes, friends out there tell me to keep doing what I’m doing, personally this is a testament to training under Professor Nuno. I have made good friends here through training (very good training partners) and putting in time/commitment on the mat to be apart of this club. I have endless stories and accolades to speak about Professor Nuno and Co
I have nothing but high praise for AHCC. Professor Nuno and assistant coach Donny are amazing with the kids. Classes are thoughtfully put together with a mix of playful exercises and more serious training where the kids are expected to display an uncommon level of discipline for such young kids. The facility itself is kept clean and orderly. There is no shortage of kids, so there’s ample opportunity to train with various skill levels. My son recently entered his first tournament, and he did well in a way that was a testament to how good - despite how much fun the kids have - the training actually is at AHCC. Attached is a video of his very first match.
Fantastic gym. We moved here in 2019 and our kids had previously trained at a Gracie gym before taking some time off to try some other sports. We tried a different gym in San Antonio but found Professor Nuno in summer 2020 just after he had opened the gym. I met with him and immediately decided to enroll the kids, who have been there ever since. Before I even get to the rest of this review, let me say that Atos Combat Club was one of the only places of normalcy for our kids during COVID, and for that, I am forever grateful. The kids are trained well, Professor Nuno has a wonderful, yet firm, teaching style, and our kids have responded well. My youngest has already made the decision that he is eventually going for his black belt. The addition of semi-regular in house tournaments has been a huge hit and gets all the families together to cheer on their kids and eat some great snacks. Professor Nuno also hosts semi-regular events throughout
My son has been attending ATOS Jiu Jitsu studio for over a year, and the experience has been fantastic! Professor Nuno, Donnie, and all the instructors are top-notch, teaching discipline, patience, and respect in every class, which has positively impacted my son both on and off the mat. The lessons go beyond just learning Jiu Jitsu techniques; they also focus on building self-confidence, which has been a game-changer for my son. He has significantly improved his motor coordination and mobility in an environment that is not only fun but also incredibly supportive, and the progress he's made in such a short time is truly amazing. Watching him practice patience in his growth process, and seeing the pride he feels when he earns a stripe from his hard work, truly melts my heart. I highly recommend ATOS Jiu Jitsu studio to any parent looking to enroll their child in a program that promotes both physical and mental growth.
My son has been training with Atos Jiu Jitsu San Antonio for almost 2 years, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Professor Nuno is not only incredibly skilled in jiu jitsu but also excels at teaching and motivating students of all ages. He creates a positive and encouraging environment where my son feels both challenged and supported. The progress my son has made under Professor Nuno's guidance is remarkable. He has gained confidence, discipline, and a genuine love for the sport. I highly recommend Atos Jiu Jitsu San Antonio to anyone looking to learn the art of jiu jitsu.
We love AHCC for our 5 yo daughter. She has grown so much in strength and confidence from the coaching and community of children, something we weren’t getting out of gymnastics or other organized sports. Her behavior and personality grew, along with her coordination and ability to learn these new skills. The coaching is phenomenal, I don’t think you will find it anywhere else, we love Professor and Coach Donny! They are serious, but take the time to build the rapport needed in order for the young children to trust and listen to them. There are no participation trophies, rather you earn your stripes through hard work, and if you regress, they can be taken away and earned again. I love the discipline of the sport, but also the balance required to make this challenging activity fun and enjoyable for the children to want to come back again and again. I love that my daughter has found something she truly enjoys. Highly recommended!
