I live in New Hampshire and wanted to get a Jiu Jitsu session in while visiting family for vacation and looked up Renzo Gracie SC for training. I have five years of training (purple belt). Walking in you notice the gym is very clean and neat. Professor PJ was very welcoming and his students were all friendly. The warm ups gave you a great workout but good for all levels of fitness. The technique demonstration including a lot of high level details and PJ’s teaching style made it easy to understand and implement. During live rounds I was very impressed with his beginner students (less then one year of training). His white belts gave me a hard time! It goes to show the high level instruction available from Renzo Gracie SC. If you are looking to compete, learn self defense, or improve fitness this is the place to go! Highly recommended! Professor PJ has built a great academy.
Recently I’ve had the pleasure of attending a women’s jujitsu class here every Wednesday and let me tell you, its always an absolute blast! From start to finish, the experience is always filled with excitement, learning, and a whole lot of laughter. First and foremost, the instructors (pj and ally) are incredible. You can tell Pj is a dedicated and spirited teacher. Every class is filled with positive and energetic vibes. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some jujitsu experience, I highly recommend this gym. It's an opportunity to learn from knowledgeable instructors, meet new people, and challenge yourself in a supportive and enjoyable environment. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! I walked in to Renzo Gracie South Carolina almost 2 years ago and immediately knew I was in the right place with the right instructor. Whether your goal is to compete or just get into better shape, Professor PJ Higgins has done both and knows what it takes to succeed. It’s a fun atmosphere where we go at our own pace, but we take our training seriously. As long as you show up, you will get better. I couldn’t be happier with the instructors, the facilities, and the people. Oh, and did I mention the seminars with world-class, elite guest instructors? If you’re interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for any reason, this is the place to be.
We love taking our kids to this school because it has built up their self confidence. The instructor and his wife are very patient they teach the kids a lot of discipline as well. If there were more starts I would give them. We visited many martial art schools and we were not impressed and soon as we step in to this school we knew it was the one for our twins. We drive 50 minutes three times a week just so the kids can learn from the best. We are more then happy to belong to the Jiu Jitsu family.
RGSC is a true family run business, and the absolute best place in South Carolina to learn traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from someone with a true Gracie lineage. I have learned so much from Professor PJ in my first year of training with him and I am in the best shape of my life both physically and mentally. I directly attribute the success and happiness I have found in my life to finding this hobby and I was so fortunate to have PJ and his family by my side in this journey. The hardest part of BJJ is walking through the door. Don’t believe me? Go try it!
I just visited for the second time. The first time was for a seminar and this time was just to train. I've been doing Jiu-Jitsu for 16 years and have trained at all kinds of gyms, Renzo's in Anderson is a great gym. PJ was super inviting and I knew before I got there that his guys would be the same. I was right. Tough rounds, friendly people, comfortable mats and clean bathrooms. They have something special going on in that room. Can't wait to go back.
