If you're looking to learn MMA there's no better choice in St Louis. Head Coach Mike Rogers has coached more UFC, Bellator and Strikeforce athletes than anyone else in the area. Current UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley started under Rogers. Other UFC vets include Lance Benoist, Josh Sampo and Alp Ozkilic. Bellator fighters include EJ Brooks, Zach Freeman, Adam Meredith and Matt Helm. Matt Ricehouse was a dominant force with Strikeforce If you're just looking to train BJJ there's that option too at SCMMA for all ages and levels. Day and evening classes offered. Ample mat space - you NEVER have to sit out rolls because of lack of space - a common problem at some gyms. LADIES? Female BJJ class - all ladies coaching! BJJ LINEAGE is pure: Helio Gracie --> Rickson Gracie --> Rodrigo Vaghi --> Mike Rogers Just want to get in shape? Fitness and conditioning only programs are also available. Everyday M-F try the 6pm fitness boot camp!
Tried three different martial arts schools for my six year old, the jiu jitsu class here was far better than the others. This is a real gym, no eight year old's running around with black belts, the other rooms are filled with sweaty people getting ready for mma. The instructors are great, the kids are actually tired after each class. Couldn't be happier with our choice to come here. Update: three years later and now my whole family comes here. Two kids do jiu jitsu while my wife and I take the adult kickboxing classes in the other room. It's still great with top quality instructors.
I have been training BJJ here since January and this place is great. The instructors are outstanding, providing great training for all skill levels. They are equally skilled at bringing the most experienced fighter to the next level and introducing new students to the fundamentals. The other students are welcoming and eager to train, providing anyone and everyone with help and tips. The students and trainers are there to work but there are no gatekeepers, everyone is welcome and made to feel welcome. It’s a family atmosphere there, every day I walk through those doors I’m greeted by other students and instructors. I highly recommend SCMMA for anyone looking to start their journey in MMA or reach a new level in their training.
It’s been a few years since I’ve trained with the guys over at SCMMA but since we moved I had to go somewhere closer to home. This gym is top notch! From the fighters to the coaches! I’ve been in multiple gyms (mma and bjj) nothing comes close to St Charles MMA. The biggest difference is they clean the mats after every practice. I’m currently at a gym where we all get skin infections constantly because the owner just doesn’t care. The other big difference is Mike Rogers and his team really care about you. Don’t think twice and join this amazing team. I know I’d come back if I didn’t live so far away.
I've been to over a dozen clubs whether it was boxing, Kickboxing, or Jiu Jitsu and this one stands out. Not because of the high level of detail the instructors put into your class that makes the world of difference. It was the one of he most welcoming gym I've been to. The owner (Mike) a once fierce competitor who is one of the few achieving his blackbelt from the iron forged lineage of Rodrigo Vaghi always has his hand out to greet you coming in and makes the extra effort to improve your skill. I hope to make it their more in the future. All genders, sizes, and ages were welcome.
My cousin had recommended that I check this gym out when I was looking for boxing/kickboxing gyms. This is the first place I checked out and had stayed since then. Being part of this gym is being part of a community and a family. Everyone wants to help you out and see you succeed. They offer variety of classes for everybody whether it's to get in shape, learn BJJ, MMA, boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, or wrestling. They have kids classes as well! You won't find a better gym around here.
