Please note, a gym that has great instructors and lacks business acumen will eventually disappoint. Octo Alliance has great instructors and the owners (Kru Rex and Meli) know how to run a gym. Nice facility, private shower, changing rooms, small gym with weights and a rowing machine, plenty of thai pads, kick shields, loaner gloves, shin pads, etc. There are a wide range of students at Octo. Women, men, older, younger, competitive fighters, and practitioners, so this is a great place if you want to compete, learn to defend yourself, or simply improve your health. Kru Rex, and Instructors/Coaches James, Justus, Ryan are exceptional Muay Thai teachers...lighthearted, fun to be around, and helpful beyond expectations. A friendly atmosphere all around, reflected by the students and instructors. The Muay Thai foundations class on Saturday morning is amazing. Focused on technique and understanding as a whole. Coach James leads the foundations
If you are looking to learn Muay Thai, or train BJJ, Octō Alliance Combat Sports is the place to be. Kru Rex and his staff are amazing coachs and very dedicated to their students. The mat space is huge and always clean. Everyone who trains and teaches at OACS are good good people. I have trained at other gyms and this one is the best! Highly recommend anyone who is interested in martial arts training attend Octo.
Octo Alliance Muay Thai is as traditional and Professional as they come! Ive trained Muay Thai for a year or two at various gyms, but Octo Alliance has blown all other gyms out of the water. Coach Rex is one of the kindest, most knowledgable, and humble persons I've ever met. The love he has for Muay Thai and martial arts in general really shows in his skills and the way he leads his classes. My favorite striking gym in Grand Rapids by far. Highly recommend to all individuals from top notch athletes to beginners who want to get fit for 2021! if you're looking to get in shape and learn real traditional martial arts skills while enjoying yourself, this is the school for you!
Octō Alliance is a fantastic Muay Thai gym for all skill levels. Kru Rex really knows how to break combos and body mechanics down to an easily understandable level while also ramping up techniques for more advanced students. The facility is clean and welcoming and promotes a strong sense of community. If you're looking to get in shape, learn traditional Muay Thai, join a friendly community, or just try something new, Octō Alliance is hands down the best place to go.
Great atmosphere, knowledgeable instructors, and a nice facility. Octō has a lot to offer whether you're advanced or stepping into the sport for the first time. The top priority is to learn and improve, but also maintains a lighthearted and personable atmosphere. If you're looking for advancement in a competitive career or just want to try something fast-paced and new, there's a lot for you at Octō. Can't recommend enough as someone who was very new to thai boxing when I stepped foot into Octō. Instructors and fellow students aim to foster one another's growth and "take care of each other." An atmosphere very purposefully constructed by Kru Rex. You won't regret joining this academy.
What an amazing place to train. The environment is extremely clean and the staff is professional and welcoming. Kru Rex is incredibly knowledgeable, and conveys the training in a way that everyone can understand. His attention to detail and technique sets this academy apart from the rest. 10/10 will continue to train with the Octo Alliance Family.
