I have been training jiu jitsu for almost 8 years and Gracie North County is hands down everything you would want in a jiu jitsu gym. From the time you set foot in the door you feel like you are apart of this jiu jitsu family. Professor Eduardo’s attention to detail and ability to understand and teach an individual based upon their physical capabilities and understanding of jiu jitsu techniques. He is excellent in tailoring his instruction for each student to elevate their skills. The gym cleanliness stands out from the moment you arrive with the clean white mats always freshly cleaned. Eddie’s connection with the children's classes is amazing to watch as he disciples them into having the confidence to defend themselves and take on life's challenges. This is truly a family run business that cares about its members and you will walk away with much more than just learning jiu jitsu.
I started bringing my 3 year old to take jiujitsu class with coach Eddie and I am beyond impressed with the outcome. Coach Eddie is awesome with kids I love to see how much they adore him and trust him to teach them the fundamentals of jiujitsu. At just 3 years old my kid and the other kids in their class have improved developmentally by practicing colors, left/right, differentiating between hand/foot/arm/leg etc. following directions, and the values of a team. Coach Eddie is really kind and intuitive when it comes to the kids needs in learning situations. This is exactly the kind of positive environment that allows kids to grow and be a part of a great community here in north county. I highly recommend to anyone thinking about it to just come and try to see for yourself!
Our son loves his jiu-jitsu classes at Double Five. Every time he steps on the mat, he’s excited to learn, and that enthusiasm has only increased since he started. It’s been wonderful to see not just his skills improve, but also his confidence! We’ve also seen his jiu-jitsu training positively impact his baseball skills; his coordination, focus, and overall athleticism have improved. Professor Eddie is awesome. He doesn’t just teach technique but consistently models what it means to be respectful, and a good friend. The way he interacts with the kids creates a positive and encouraging environment where they feel motivated and valued. We would highly recommend Double Five San Marcos!
Having been involved in BJJ for the last 4 years, Gracie North County is one of the cleanest and friendliest BJJ gyms I’ve been to. The coaches are very skilled in breaking down and explaining moves and will adapt them for your body type which is key. Their experience and vast knowledge of the sport allows them to teach more than just basic motions and standard attacks or defenses. They focus on the basics and fundamentals, but if you are taller, shorter, wider or older, adapting BJJ to you makes all the difference! They also have fostered a respectful and safe way to fully engage in the sport. This attitude also keeps injury’s down overall as well. So whether you are just looking to ride a fun way exercise a couple times a week, or looking to jump into Brazilian Jiujitsu and its heritage and culture, Professor Eduardo has you covered at Gracie North County for sure!
My son trains with coach Eduardo twice a week. He’s been going for over a year. Since he’s started he’s not only excelled in his jiujitsu skills, he’s improved on his communication and interaction skills when meeting potential new friends. The coach really cares about his students and tries to promote confidence in his students that can later be used in the real world. My son also participated in his first jiujitsu tournament this year. Unfortunately he lost (cried) but I was really impressed and taken back on how coach Eduardo stepped in and provided words of encouragement to get my son through his emotions.
I bring my daughters to this school and thought that this place was better than the earlier two martial arts they had been in (karate, then another jiujitsu place). Recently I was at a longer event where all students were tested to consider advancing (belt, etc) and I was really impressed with Eddie’s patience with one of the younger children. The kid was scared, crying, etc. And Eddie was very good at dispelling that child’s fear. It totally took my attention away from the material I was reading… and I found myself enjoying the show: of watching Eddie ply child psychology in real time. Very enjoyable, and effective! This isn’t the only time I observed Eddie (“Professor” Eduardo) do this sort of thing. His desire to establish the highest quality operation, in terms of his students’ martial arts abilities, as well as manners & ethics is clear. He’s the Mr Miyagi of JiuJitsu! We’re very happy we have our daughters, & now my wife as well,
