Doug and Christina have built an amazing and welcoming environment to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for children and adults. My family started training at Gracie Barra two years ago. Their children’s classes are great at teaching the practical skills of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense. They tailor the lessons to be understandable and fun for the kids. At the end of each class, the instructors sit down with the kids and discuss valuable life lessons in leadership, discipline, and responsibility. I decided to join Gracie Barra Oceanside after seeing how great Doug and Christina were with teaching one of my sons. My son was being bullied badly and I really needed to be more active, so we decided to try GB Oceanside and attend their free kids No Bullying and free Women’s Self Defense seminars. A great intro class was the combined parents and kids class offered every Saturday. We were both so nervous, since we didn’t have athletic body types or have any martial arts experience. Fast forward three years and I know my son and I have gained numerous self defense skills and priceless body positivity confidence from joining . Friends now feel like family when we walk in the door! We love all our professors and coaches and how family oriented and military friendly it is! No unnecessary pressure on the kiddos and competitions are soooo fun! Gi uniforms are affordable and actually last!
