Our experience at AOJ Jiu Jitsu has been absolutely incredible. My son, Renzo, has been training here for about nine months, and the growth we’ve seen in him both on and off the mats has been amazing. He has been training under coaches Caro & Ivo. The coaches are knowledgeable, patient, and truly care about each student’s development. Renzo has already started competing, and thanks to the training and support from AOJ, he has made the podium every single time. The level of instruction and attention to detail here is unmatched. Beyond the competition results, AOJ has helped build Renzo’s confidence, discipline, and love for jiu jitsu. The environment is professional, welcoming, and motivating, and we feel so grateful to be part of this academy. If you’re looking for a place that genuinely invests in its students and helps them reach their potential, AOJ is it. Highly recommend!
Several students have relocated to Orange County from thousands of miles away (e.g. Hawaii, North Carolina, Japan) for the sole purpose of training at this academy. I think that says it all, but I’ll elaborate anyway. Instructors Gui and Rafael are welcoming to all comers and teach every class. They are patient and excellent with beginner & advanced students alike. They will offer you their personal attention and encouragement regardless of whether you're a high level competitor or a new student struggling with the basics. The curriculum is organized and well planned. There are separate men's and women's change rooms with individual showers. Cleanliness is clearly a priority-- the mats and restrooms are cleaned regularly. Lastly, there are plenty of class times to choose from for those of us with busy schedules. In fact, one of the reasons I joined was because of the later 7:30 p.m. classes, but I've found that the convenient lesson tim
This academy is far and away the best academy that I have ever been to. First of all, the space is beautiful, it honestly feels/looks like jiu jitsu heaven. It is always clean, there is an abundance of mat space, the locker room set-up is great, there is a nice lounging area to hang out in before or after class, there is a laundry service...I could go on and on and on, it truly is a wonderful place. But even though the academy is state of the art, what makes AOJ special is the people. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and the instructors, Rafa and Gui, are amazing. Rafa and Gui are fantastic teachers; they are extremely technical, they explain moves with incredible detail, they are patient and very accessible, they are just all-around genuinely great guys. You just really feel like a part of the family at this place, it is a great environment for everyone, men, women, children, (the kid's program is amazing!), competitors, f
Best academy I’ve ever trained at in 21 years of jiu jitsu. Technical level, environment, vibe, facility (both Costa Mesa and Mission Viejo), schedule, adults program, kids program, gi, no gi, training with the best of the best, being taught by high level world champions all under the age of 30. All of this is a cut above the rest. There’s no comparison. If you want to train jiu jitsu and you live in Orange County this is where you have to go. I promise you won’t regret it. Just Google “Gui and Rafa Mendes”. Oh yeah and no money grab cancel policy because they are completely secure in what they are offering, unlike other places. A+++++++++
My daughter and I love visiting Art of Jiujitsu whenever we can. I love and variety of adult classes and the kids classes are excellent. My daughter takes the 6-8 year old level one class and she loves Coach Caro and her energy. Coach Caro is firm but also kind and her class is so well structured. My daughter always learns so much and gets so much confidence from the class. It’s always what we look forward to most whenever we visit Orange County.
This place is awesome. From the moment you walk through the door you realise that the Art of Jiu Jitsu is not just another martial arts Academy. The place looks amazing, everyone is really friendly and welcoming. The training with Gui and Rafa is brilliant, they have a very clear and easily understandable way of teaching, and are willing to help you in anyway you can. I would highly recommend training at AOJ to anyone whether they are a beginner or of a high level in Jiu Jitsu.
