I came across AJJ on social media and loved that they had special class options for my daughter, ASD (4). Right away the instructor, Scott Sanders, took his time establishing a connection with her, getting her comfortable on the mat, and really get an idea of her bodily autonomy and a range of motions. It was so incredible seeing her come out of her shell. I am si grateful and look forward to what the next 6 weeks of classes will look like for her social development and her confidence. In addition, while waiting, Michelle (not sure if she’s the manager or receptionist), was so kind and I formative about BJJ and the benefits and really helped me understand and be comfortable as a parent. Overall, it was a great experience. I will be recommending this to my friends and family and look forward to continuing classes here for my daughter.
My son has been training at Anchor Jiu Jitsu Club since 2023, and the growth I’ve seen in him over the years has been incredible. Not just in his skills, but in his confidence, discipline, and overall attitude. Coach Scott and Michelle truly care about each of their students and consistently go above and beyond. One thing that really stands out is how they make the effort to show up to competitions we sign him up for—it means so much to have that level of support. They’re also encouraging and supportive of activities outside the gym, which shows how invested they are in the kids as individuals. We’re really grateful to be part of such a positive and dedicated community, and will definitely be enrolling my babies as soon as they’re old enough to train.
Recommended! After a bit of snooping around, I was glad to find that Anchor has free open mat from 10am - 12pm on Sundays. Scott (coach and owner) welcomed me in, generously offering water and Gatorade from their stocked fridge at no cost. I like this place. Good vibe, good people, and clean. The facility is a little small, but that's to be expected of a newer gym (they've been here for around 1 year). Everyone was friendly and helpful. No chips on shoulders, no egos, just people wanting to get better at BJJ and to help those around them do the same. Scott was also happy to offer me some tips to improve, which I'm grateful for. Anchor offers classes tailored to children with ASD, which is cool as hell. If I lived closer, I'd definitely consider making this my regular gym. For now, I'm happy to drop in for some open mats with good people.
I have been training here for a year. Coach is very knowledgeable and pays attention to you to help you get better. Also want to give a shout out to the upper belts for their much needed advice at times. Training has been great in my schedule, and look forward to every week so I can learn new skills with fellow friends who enjoy rolling safely while sharpening the craft. Thanks to Anchor BJJ for helping me lose 20 pounds while getting in the best shape of my life now almost 40. Everyday I continue to grow in my jiu jitsu journey and hope to become a black belt.
Both of my sons started classes here 4x a week, and they absolutely love it! The instructor, Scott, is amazing with them. He's patient and makes it fun for them as well. This is their first time doing jiu jitsu, and they have already learned so much and are so committed. They both already earned their first stripe as well. Scott and his wife, Michelle, make everyone feel welcome and are quick to answer any questions. Anyone looking to start their child in jiu jitsu, this would be an ideal place to start!
Couldn’t be happier to have found this place. We tried another place before but once we stepped in to this gym we knew this was going to be perfect. Coach Scott, Coach Omar, and Coach Michelle are all fantastic with the kids. They really take the time to really help them master their skills. A lot of places are in it for the money but this place does it purely out of passion which is crystal clear. Couldn’t be more grateful for them! Highly recommend to give them a try!
