If you are looking for a place where you can learn all aspects of self defense and enjoy your workouts. Look no further. Standalone MMA offers all that one could want in a martial arts gym. I have personally been training there for over 6 years now. I spent the first couple years learning Muay Thai from Jason and Cedrick, the two owners. They took me in and showed me that you do not need to have any experience in martial arts to be able to learn and enjoy training. I know also train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, in which I am a Blue Belt, as well as grappling. Many people get the initial feeling that everyone who walks out of that gym must be a fighter but that couldn't be further from the truth. Most of the people who train there simply enjoy the workouts and enjoy being challanged not only physically but also mentally. This is a gym full of people from all walks of life, who range from 8-50 years of age, and include both men & women, girls
My son recently joined Stand Alone MMA to practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu while attending college! He was welcomed the second he walked thru the door and later chatted with the owner who also gave him a warm welcome! He wasn’t sure if he was ready to join when he walked in but very quickly recognized that Stand Alone had everything he was hoping for: a sense of community; excellent BJJ instructors; a place that welcomes beginners along with the opportunity to advance to your goals; opportunities for other martial arts and boxing classes; and close to Chico campus. As a mom, I left feeling like he had enrolled in a program that had his best interests in mind! Since joining, my son has enjoyed many classes with different black belt instructors and continues to look forward to his next BJJ and No-Gi classes!!
I recently visited Standalone MMA Gym for my first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class, and I must say, it was an excellent experience. From the moment I walked in, Brandon, the owner, greeted me warmly and made me feel right at home. Despite my lack of experience in the sport, Brandon was incredibly patient and supportive throughout the session. The facility itself is well-maintained and equipped with everything needed for a great workout. The atmosphere was friendly yet focused, which created a positive environment for learning. The instructors were knowledgeable and attentive, providing clear instructions and helpful feedback during the class. What stood out the most to me was Brandon's dedication to ensuring everyone felt included and encouraged, regardless of skill level. He took the time to explain techniques and answer any questions I had, which helped me grasp the fundamentals more quickly. Overall, my first experience at Standalone MMA G
I think everyone should come to this gym because it's fun, it's healthy, the trainers are the best, the atmosphere is helpful/friendly, and I think the people at this gym genuinely get excited to train with new people and have new experiences. I haven't been to any other mma gym and was nervous to go to StandAlone and try out Muay Thai for my first time ever, but I loved it so much I started trying out all the other classes the gym had to offer. Another reason I think this gym is so cool is I think the coaches and fellow students do a really good job of taking care of new students, and by this I mean they work at your level and build you up from there so you have a good solid foundation in things, and then when you are ready to learn different skills or train at higher levels they are right there for you. I initially started going here for fitness and now I just go to because it's really fun and I enjoy it.
I trained at StandAlone for years and all I can say is that StandAlone is quite simply the best. If you're brand new to the world of martial arts and feeling a little nervous about getting started this place will provide you with the patience and encouragement you need to succeed. If you're a seasoned veteran you will find elite level instruction and competition to sharpen your skills. For anyone with kids, StandAlone's youth program is popular for a reason. It is fun, engaging and gives kids physical and mental tools that will last a lifetime. If you're on the fence, don't be. Take the leap and join the team at StandAlone.
The classes are run very professionally and the details and knowledge is great from all the coaches. I’ve had the opportunity to travel all across the united states trying different types of martial arts gyms. Jason is easily one of the most knowledgeable martial artists I’ve came across in my 6 years of experience my favorite class is his boxing class that he runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday twice a day. I will forsure be back to train at Standalone!
