I am grateful to have found this place for my daughter. She loves training with her friends here and has really thrived in this focused but fun environment. Jiu Jitsu is a kinetic activity, but my daughter feels safe on these mats because everyone here is expected to be respectful and worthy of respect - which is key to maintaining an environment where you can trust each other. One of the reasons that we chose to come here was that this place allows for continual growth and development. The youth classes balance discipline, exercise, and play, there is a competition team for kids who are really excited about advancing, the adult classes feature camaraderie and skilled practitioners, and all who are interested are well prepared for participating in tournaments. I can’t say enough good things about Carlsbad Jiu-Jitsu. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, and all of the professors make you feel like part of the family from day one. As someone who deals with anxiety and has always been nervous about trying something new, I was blown away by how supportive and encouraging Professor Aaron and Professor Elijah have been. They’ve created a space that’s both family-friendly and professional, offering top-tier training for all levels. I recently signed up my two youngest kids, ages 7 and 9, and the way the instructors interact with them is amazing. Every question is met with patience and kindness, and my kids genuinely look forward to every class. Whether you’re new to Jiu-Jitsu or looking for a great place to train, I couldn’t recommend Carlsbad Jiu-Jitsu more highly.
Nearly seven years later and I feel the same way about Carlsbad Jiu Jitsu. Professors Aaron and Elijah are amazing instructors guiding students along their Jiu Jitsu journey. The vibe at the gym is wonderful with a wide variety students at different skill levels and sizes. The gym is impeccably clean with plenty of ventilation and mat space. ***2017*** Gracie Barra Carlsbad is the best jiu jitsu studio period. Professor Aaron, who runs it, is an incredibly positive person and a wonderful teacher. As a father to a daughter and son who both participate, I can't imagine a better, more family friendly environment. Hector, Elijah, Jay and the other coaches are terrific role models --patient, kind and excellent instructors with both adults and kids.
My kids and I have been training at GB Carlsbad for over a year now and absolutely love it. Professor Aaron and the staff are great - very knowledgable, friendly, and fun. The other students are great as well. The facility is spacious and clean and they even have a great TV room for the kids to hang out in before or after classes. My younger son wants to go sometimes just to hang out with his friends. My older son has become a part of the competition team which has been great. The kids from this school, including my son always do extremely well in tournaments and competitions which is proof the instructors are definitely doing something right. My older son has some special needs and Professor Aaron and the coaches have been tremendous in working with him. Both my son and I train here. This jiu jitsu gym is the best. Clean mats, great instructors and such an awesome family environment. There are always multiple black belts on the mats in the adults class. The kids class and instructors are amazing, my son has made some great friends and loves his instructors. Can’t say enough about what a great experience we have both had, highly recommend Carlsbad Jiu Jitsu!
The Team here at Carlsbad Jiu Jitsu is great! Our kids have been going here for about 6 months now and they love it! Professors Aaron and Elijah run a tight and clean gym and they along with the other coaches really take the time to make sure the kids are learning in a safe and friendly environment. If you’re looking for a fantastic gym, attentive staff, and wonderful family environment this is the gym for you. Our kids come 5 days a week, all for one flat fee…the value is amazing. I’m so glad that we found and joined the Carlsbad Jiu Jitsu family!

Beginners are welcome. Use the trial class to watch a fundamentals or all-levels session and meet the coach before signing up. No experience or gear needed for your first class at most Carlsbad gyms.
