Checkmat Brentwood is an outstanding jiu-jitsu academy with a welcoming and professional environment. All coachs are top-level, with a strong focus on technique, discipline, and respect for everyone on the mats—from complete beginners to experienced competitors. Coach Thiago is extremely dedicated, patient, and passionate about teaching, always making sure students understand the details and improve safely. The team atmosphere is supportive and motivating, making it a great place to train, grow, and build confidence. I may be the coach’s brother, but I can honestly say the quality of training, organization, and community here speaks for itself. If you’re looking for high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Brentwood, Checkmat is the place to be.
As a parent of two kids that have trained here for years, and training here myself, I can say that this gym is wonderful! My kids started here in 2021. They absolutely love the environment, the training and the friendships they have made here. Having an accomplished professor teach the art of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is key. Coach Thiago is not only extremely experienced and knowledgeable, but his patience and methods of teaching ensure all students are really understanding the techniques. Our kids have grown so much over these last few years and their skills are constantly improving. They have competed at multiple tournaments to test their skills. My 10 year old son has been training with Coach Thiago for 5 years now, and my 16 year old son just started last summer. The program is well balanced, teaches discipline and confidence. Both kids learn a wide range of techniques. Checkmat Brentwood offers positive blend of family vibe and a strong competition environment. All the coaches are friendly and helpful. After moving to Brentwood, I needed to find a new school to train jiu jitsu. I was surprised and happy to find a Checkmat school here. Checkmat has a great reputation around the country and Professor Thiago’s school did not disappoint. I love training here. The instruction and people are top notch. It’s been a very positive experience. They also have a large children’s practice. There are a lot of choices for jiu jitsu training in Brentwood and I am happy to have decided to join Checkmat.
