Rubber Guard Entry (Mission Control)
Also known as: Mission Control · Rubber Guard Pull-Up
Break their posture, swing one leg high over their back, and overhook your own shin — locking their head down with your leg so a hand comes free to attack.
Transition · Gi & No-gi · Difficulty 3/5 · Usually learned at Blue belt
Starts from Closed Guard as the guard player → lands in Rubber Guard .
The details that make it work
Break posture FIRST with a double-wrist or head pull; the leg climbs onto a broken opponent. Hug your shin with the opposite-side arm ("mission control") — your knee points past their ear. Stay on your side, not flat; flexibility matters less than the hip angle.
Where it goes wrong Forcing the position against full posture and burning your guard retention doing it.
How opponents counter it Posture straight up before the shin is caught Turn the trapped shoulder in and stack
