Long Step Pass

Also known as: Longstep · Backstep Long Step · Hip Switch Pass

The knee cut’s mirror: when they frame against the slice, kick your trapped leg back in a long arc and switch your hips, passing to the opposite side of their frames.

Guard Pass · Gi & No-gi · Difficulty 3/5 · Usually learned at Blue belt

Starts from Headquarters as the passer → lands in Side Control.

The details that make it work

  1. Elbow or hand kills their top knee shield as your trapped leg releases.
  2. The step is LONG — your leg arcs back and away while your chest stays heavy on their torso.
  3. Land hip-to-hip in a switch-base, then square up to side control.
