Back Take from Leg Drag
Also known as: Turn-Away Back Take · Turning Back Take
When they turn away from the leg drag to save the guard, take the gift: chase the exposed back with a seatbelt instead of fighting for the side control they are defending.
Back Take · Gi & No-gi · Difficulty 3/5 · Usually learned at Purple belt
Starts from Leg Drag Position as the passer → lands in Back Control .
The details that make it work
Their defensive turn away IS the entry — read the shoulder line, not the legs. Seatbelt over the top shoulder as your knee slides behind their hips. Insert the bottom hook first (it is closest), then hunt the second or lock the body triangle.
Where it goes wrong Chasing hooks before the seatbelt and getting shrugged off over the top.
How opponents counter it Turn INTO the drag (toward the passer) instead of away Address the seatbelt hand before rebuilding guard
