Knee on Belly Escape

Also known as: KOB Escape ยท Knee Ride Escape

Get out from under the knee ride without feeding the armbar: turn INTO the knee with a hip escape and slip the knee line back into half guard.

Escape · Gi & No-gi · Difficulty 2/5 · Usually learned at White belt

Starts from Knee on Belly as the bottom player → lands in Half Guard.

The details that make it work

  1. Do not push the knee with your hands โ€” that straight arm is the spinning-armbar invitation.
  2. Frame at the ankle-side hip with your elbow tight; shrimp INTO them, under the riding knee.
  3. Catch their posting leg with your knees as you slide under โ€” half guard is the exit ramp.
